Airex

Improve the energy efficiency of your home with smart airflow control.

Many homes across Europe are naturally ventilated with air bricks.  This airflow is essential in the home but is responsible for a large proportion of a home’s heat loss due to constantly open air bricks.

Airex has created the world’s first smart air brick to reduce the home’s energy bills, helping to end fuel poverty and climate change with a simple building retrofit.

The AirEx technology is a smart passive ventilation system that reduces heat loss while preventing damp and mould in your home. Traditional airbricks allow for airflow under suspended ground floors to stop condensation, but this can waste up to 15% of your home's energy. AirEx measures temperature and humidity using sensors and online weather data and opens to prevent damp and mould while closing to reduce heat loss and improve thermal comfort.

warmer homes

Improves thermal efficiency, so rooms warm up faster and stay warm longer.

Improved comfort

Removes unwanted draughts, improving airtightness and occupan'ts thermal comfort.

Lower energy bills

Helps homeowners save on heating bills by using 10-15% less energy.

healthy home

Ensures good air quality, mitigating the risk of condensation, timber rot and mould.

Airex Floorvent
the smart air brick replacement

What is a sub-floor air brick?

Air bricks are bricks with multiple holes to allow air to flow under the floor of homes with a suspended ground floor. It is essential to ventilate these underfloor cavities to stop condensation forming, which could otherwise cause mould growth or timber rot.

However, constantly open air bricks can contribute to up to 15% of the energy used to heat a home being wasted, as well as causing uncomfortable cold draughts.

How does the airex floorvent work?

The Airex brick is a smart ventilation control that replaces existing air bricks at a sub-floor level (under the floorboards). The Airex bricks have in-built sensors to measure the environmental conditions (such as temperature and relative humidity) and use smart software algorithms to automatically regulate airflow.

Each brick opens to reduce humidity and stop mould and damp and closes to reduce heat loss and improve thermal comfort.

AIREX ROOMVENT
THE SMART ROOM VENT REPLACEMENT

what is a room level air brick?

Air bricks are bricks with multiple holes to allow air to flow under the floor of homes with a suspended ground floor. It is essential to ventilate these underfloor cavities to stop condensation forming, which could otherwise cause mould growth or timber rot.

However, constantly open air bricks can contribute to up to 15% of the energy used to heat a home being wasted, as well as causing uncomfortable cold draughts.

How does airex roomvent work?

Airex Roomvent is a smart vent that replaces existing air bricks in a wall, typically within habitable rooms such as the bedroom or living room.

Airex Roomvent’s smart sensors monitor the environmental conditions and smart algorithms enable automatic air flow regulation. In addition to air temperature and humidity, the system also monitors indoor air quality, while taking into account local weather data.

The vent closes to prevent unwanted draughts and opens to ensure a healthy indoor environment. The system uses AI and learns when you are at home to maximise efficiency.

FAQs

Answers to our most frequent questions

What are the benefits of using airex technology?

Airex technology helps reduce heatloss, improve thermal comfort, prevent damp and mould, and enhance energyefficiency in homes.

HOW DOES THE AIREX TECHNOLOGY WORK?

Airex systems combine vents that can open and close, sensors and smart algorithms to optimise airflow. It helps improve the thermal efficiency of homes whilst ensuring a healthy environment for both buildings and occupants.

What is the difference between airex floorvent and airex roomvent?

Airex Floorvent is specifically designed for sub-floor air brick replacement, while Airex Roomvent is meant to replace room level air bricks in walls.

What is the installation process for the airex technology?

Installation is quick, simple, and hassle-free and can be easily installed in existing homes without major modifications. The installation will be done in less than a day.

How do you maintain the airex product?

Once up and running, Airex does not require any interaction to operate or to be beneficial – it is simply fit and forget.

What is the lifespan of airex products?

Airex products are designed to be durable and have a long lifespan. They are built to withstand the environmental conditions and perform optimally for many years.

Do the airex vents require a hardwired cable to power the opening and closing of the vents?

The Airex vents are powered by a battery pack and therefore do not require hardwiring. The battery will last circa 5 years before needing the batteries to be replaced.
