Solar Panels: Harnessing Renewable Energy for a Sustainable Future

At Emit Zero, we offer a diverse range of sustainable solutions, including professional solar panel installations, offering a sustainable solution to harness renewable energy and pave the way towards a greener future. Solar panels, also known as photovoltaic (PV) panels, convert sunlight into electricity, allowing you to power your home with clean and renewable energy.

Installing solar panels brings numerous benefits to homeowners. By harnessing the power of the sun, you can significantly reduce your reliance on grid energy and lower your carbon footprint. Solar panels generate electricity without emitting harmful greenhouse gases, helping to combat climate change and protect the environment.

Solar panels provide long-term financial savings. By generating your own electricity, you can reduce your reliance on grid-supplied power and potentially earn money through feed-in tariffs or net metering programmes. Additionally, solar panels require minimal maintenance and have a lifespan of up to 25 years, making them a cost-effective investment in the long run.

At Emit Zero, we ensure a seamless installation process for your solar panels. Our team of experts will conduct a thorough assessment of your property's solar potential and design a customised system to maximise energy generation. We handle all aspects of the installation, from acquiring necessary permits to mounting the solar panels on your roof.

During the installation, solar panels are securely mounted on a suitable area of your roof to optimise sunlight exposure. Our team will also connect the panels to an inverter, which converts the generated electricity into a usable form for your home. We take care of all the electrical connections and ensure that your solar panel system is safely integrated with your existing electrical system.

Investing in solar panels offers a range of advantages for homeowners. By generating your own electricity, you can reduce your dependence on traditional energy sources and protect yourself against rising energy costs. Solar panels provide a reliable and sustainable energy solution, allowing you to enjoy clean and renewable power for decades to come.

Solar panels also increase the value of your property. As energy efficiency and sustainability become more important to homebuyers, having solar panels installed can make your property more appealing and potentially lead to a higher resale value.

Additionally, solar panels offer energy independence. With your own solar power generation, you have greater control over your energy supply, reducing vulnerability to fluctuations in energy prices.

FAQs

Answers to our most frequent questions

How does a solar PV system work?

Solar PV systems utilise photovoltaic (PV) cells to convert sunlight into electricity. The PV cell consists of one or two layers of semiconducting material - often silicone. When the light shines on the cell, it creates an electric field across the layers, causing electricity to flow. The greater the intensity of the light, the greater the flow of electricity.

Is my home suitable for solar panel installation?

Whether your roof faces south, east or west, your home is perfect to have solar photovoltaic panels installed. North-facing roofs will not receive as much sunlight and therefore won't be as efficient. The pitch of your roof should be between 20°- 50°.

Do I need to get planning permission to get solar panels installed?

Having solar panels installed to your home is classified as a "permitted development". You only require planning permission if you live in a listed building or in a conservation area.

How much maintenance do the solar panels require?

Once installed, solar panels require very little maintenance. Unlike other technologies, solar PV has no moving parts, so there is nothing to wear out or need lubricating. Solar panels are warranted to work for 25 years and may last even longer than that.Solar panels have a surface coating on them to help water and dust run away, and they are considered self-cleaning if pitched at greater than 10 degrees.

HOW LONG DO SOLAR PANELS TAKE TO INSTALL?

This will depend on the size of the installation. Typically, an installation will take 1 day to complete, though more complex systems may take longer. This excludes the installation of scaffolding which will typically take 1 day to erect in advance and half a day to remove for a residential installation.

WHAT IS AN INVERTER?

The inverter is the brains of the system. It converts the DC electricity produced by the solar panels into AC electricity for use within the building. It also matches the phase of the AC electricity produced to the phase of the grid, ensuring complete compatibility and the ability to export excess back to the wider electricity network.
